Overview

Grameen Foundation requires the services of a research consultant to assist with a landscape analysis of the ICT4D sector to help inform the strategy for the Application Laboratory initiative in Indonesia. This landscape analysis focuses specifically on Indonesia and aims to provide insight into the existing mobile applications currently deployed on the market and recommend the highest potential thematic areas of focus (health, education, agriculture, etc).

This ICT4D landscape analysis will complement a similar landscape analysis that will be surveying the global landscape of mobile applications and information services.

Research Requirements
---------------------
The research consultant will be expected to provide additional details on the following:

-- Research existing mobile-based initiatives, either telecom operator-driven, government-sponsored, NGO-driven or otherwise;
-- Identify sources of aggregated data that could utilize mobile phones as a delivery channel;
-- Check local and national newspapers for the kinds of ‘daily data’ published. Determine where this information comes from, and the format of the information at its source;
-- Determine if public libraries or other trusted intermediaries exist and have a relevant presence, and if so, determine the information requested by its patrons;
-- Divide the information into general themes and categories to make sound recommendations for thematic areas of focus as Grameen Foundation moves forward with the Application Laboratory Initiative
